Swimming Spends Weekend at Mount San Antonio for Tri-Meet; Distance Races

WALNUT, Calif. --- El Camino College spent Friday and Saturday competing at Mount San Antonio College, splitting dual meets against the host Mounties and Rio Hondo on day one followed by participating in distance races at the Mt. SAC Invitational on day two.

On Friday, the Warriors men dropped a dual meet to the Mounties, 192-70, but scored a dominat 222-11 win over Rio Hondo. Fin Kircher scored an individual win for the Warriors in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.20.

For the women, the Warriors fell to the Mounties, 179-84, but scored a 157-46 win over Rio Hondo. The women's 200 medley relay team of Diana Nguyen, Mia Park, Iyanah Samayoa, and Raina Henty-Dodd scored a victory in the event with a time of 1:56.69. Individually, Park scored wins in the 50 freestyle (24.87) and 200 individual medley (2:13.15) while Samayoa won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.22) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.41).

On Saturday, the Warriors sent a contingent back to Mt. SAC for the distance races portion of the Mt. SAC Invitational.

Highlights from Saturday's action included:

  • Mia Park: Wins in 1650 freestyle (18:11.31), 100 free (53.59).
  • Iyanah Samayoa: Wins in the 400 IM (4:45.62), 200 breaststroke (2:29.96)
  • Fin Kircher: Second place in 400 IM (4:14.20)

The Warriors will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Riverside Invitational.
