Park Completes the Sweep with Third Freestyle State Title, Named Swimmer of the Year

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- Freshman Mia Park completed a historic weekend for El Camino College as she captured her third win in as many days on Saturday at the 3C2A Swim and Dive State Championships at the East Los Angeles Swim Stadium in Monterey Park, Calif.

Park won her third state championship of the weekend on Saturday, taking the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.11, which also lowered her own ECC record in the event.

With the victory, Park was also named the 3C2A Women's Co-State Swimmer of the Year with De Anza's Courtney Seljeseth who also won three golds this week.

On Saturday morning, Park qualified second in the prelims with a time of 52.51, the first time she did not net the top qualifying time in an event in which she competed this week. Camryn Bussey of Sierra College netted the top qualifying time at 52.51 with Alessandra Fleischmann qualifying third at 52.85.

They were the only three swimmers to break 53 seconds and the same would hold true in the finals.

Park started the finals in lane five and, for the third straight time, defeated the reigning state champion in the event as she outswam Bussey despite the 2022 champ touching the wall in 52.28, six tenths faster than her winning time last year.
