Park Sets Meet Record as Warriors Compete at Pasadena Invitational

MONTERREY PARK, Calif. --- Freshman Mia Park continued to add to her list of accolades over the weekend as she set a new meet record as the Warriors competed at the Pasadena Invitational, held at the East Los Angeles Swim Stadium in Monterrey Park, Calif.

Park set a new record in the 500-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 5:11.28. She broke Melissa Cienega's five-year old record of 5:12.03, which was set on April 6, 2018. Park came a shade more than six seconds short of setting the pool record of 5:05.10, set by Lindsay R. Loeffler in 2002.

Park's win was the Warriors only victory at the Pasadena Invitational which was held on Friday and Saturday. But the Warriors had a number of top-five and top-10 finishes at the meet as the men finished fourth overall out of 13 teams with 339 points. On the women's side, the Warriors placed fifth out of 13 teams with 300 points.

The meet served as the final tune-up for the Warriors as the next competition on their schedule will be the South Coast Conference Championships on April 20-22 at the ELAC Swim Stadium.
