Men Defeat Long Beach, Women Split Decisions at Dual Meet

LONG BEACH, Calif. – El Camino College scored a pair of positive results on Friday afternoon in a dual meet against East Los Angeles and hosts Long Beach at the LBCC Pool.

On the men's side, the Warriors downed the Vikings 147-103, scoring a number of individual victories to secure the victory. Daniel Fuentes led the team with two individual victories on the day, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.93. He also took home a win in the 100-yard breaststroke as he finished with a time of 1:08.95.

Fuentes was one of four different Warriors to score a victory on Friday afternoon. Kyle Thorne recorded the team's first individual win of the day, securing the 1,000 free with a time of 10:54.20.

Will Ngo added to the distance victories for ECC with a win in the 500 free, posting a time of 5:27.29. Lastly, Ethan Tom recorded a victory in the 200 breast, finishing with a time of 2:32.35.

On the women's side, the Warriors split their decisions against Long Beach and East Los Angeles. The Warriors fell to the Vikings 164-82 but took home a close 129-123 victory over the Huskies to round out the day.

Sophomore Ida Due added three more victories to her season on Friday, taking home wins in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.94), 100-breast (1:15.38) and 1,000 free (11:08.10).

In addition, freshman Sophia Caravello broke into the ECC record book as her time of 3:01.56 in the 200 Breast placed her in 15th all-time in Warriors history.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday, March 13 at the Cuesta Invitational, a two-day event.
