TORRANCE, Calif. --- No. 1 El Camino College overcame an early deficit and recorded its eighth straight victory with a 10-2 decision over Pasadena City in five innings on Thursday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors scored 10 unanswered runs after falling behind 2-0 to the Lancers to notch their fifth run-rule win of the season.

Cami Garcia led the offense as she went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Emma Garcia, Emily Gamboa and Jackie Ordonez all had two hits on the day with Gamboa driving in three runs. Ordonez, Savanna Kastigar and Anahi Pintado each recorded two RBIs in the win.

Mahlia Espino drew the start in the circle and overcame an early deficit to record her second win of the season. She went all five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits. She walked three but two of those came in the second inning where the Lancers scored their first run of the game on a throwing error.

Espino struck out two and retired seven of the last eight hitters she faced.

The Warriors' offense was held in check in the first two innings despite putting on a few baserunners due to some errors by the Lancers defense, but Pasadena was able to escape both innings unscathed.

But trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, the Warriors batted around and scored six runs on six hits, knocking out starting pitcher Mariah Vazquez in the process.

The Warriors would score two more in the fourth inning and then Kastigar punched a single through the right side with runners on second and third to drive in two runs and end the game.

The No. 1 Warriors will welcome another top-10 team in the state to the ECC Softball Field on Friday as No. 9 Mount San Antonio comes in for a big conference tilt. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
