Warriors Drop Game One to Mounties

WALNUT, Calif. --- No. 5 El Camino College dropped game one of the 3C2A Southern California Super Regionals to No. 4 Mt. San Antonio, 5-1, on Friday at the Mt. SAC Softball Field.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning after Malia Martin reached on an error to lead off the frame. Cerise Cervantes then singled to advance Martin to third and the Warriors would go up 1-0 on an RBI single from Julianna Vasquez.
But the Mounties responded in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run home run from Janis Espinoza to put the hosts up 2-1.
The Mounties would add another two-run homer in the sixth along with an unearned run on a strikeout to cap the scoring.
The two teams will return to action on Saturday at noon. The Warriors must win to force a decisive game three later in the afternoon otherwise their 2024 season will come to an end.
