TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 16-0 South Coast Conference loss to Mount San Antonio in five innings on Friday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

A disastrous third inning proved to be too much for the Warriors to overcome as the Mounties sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 times on nine hits to break open what was a scoreless game.

Meanwhile, the Warriors were unable to solve Mounties hurler Aleyna Urbina as ECC managed just three singles off and five base-runners against the right-hander.

Friday's loss also marked the first time the Warriors suffered a run-rule loss since May 6, 2023 when they fell 13-0 in five innings in game three of the 3C2A SoCal Regional Playoffs at Ventura. It also marked just the second time the Warriors have been shutout this season.

For the Warriors, Cheyenne Navarro, Malia Martin and Cerise Cervantes accounted for the Warriors offense on the day as they recorded a hit apiece.

The team will look to regroup with another tough opponent on Saturday as they head on the road to take on No. 1 Cypress on Saturday afternoon with first pitch set for 12 p.m., weather permitting.
