Garcia Perfect at the Plate as Warriors Run-Rule Chaffey at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College set the tone early and cruised to a 9-1 non-conference victory over Chaffey in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

Emma Garcia went 3-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and two runs scored while Emily Esparza went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Emma Figueroa picked up her third victory of the season in the circle as she went all five innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits.

The Warriors offense wasted no time to get going as Cheyenne Navarro led off the game with her first career home run, a mammoth blast over the center-field wall, to put the Warriors up 1-0 in the first.

Garcia then ripped a ball down the right-field line and into the corner and came all the way around to score for her first career homer, an inside-the-park job that put ECC up 2-0 before ever recording an out.

The offense just kept rolling from there as the team finished with 10 hits including five extra-base hits. Seven different players also recorded an RBI in the game.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday afternoon with a critical South Coast Conference matchup against Mount San Antonio. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
