TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College won its fifth consecutive game with an 8-4 decision over visiting Santa Ana on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors scored in every inning except the first as they pounded out nine hits and tallied three stolen bases.

Malia Martin shined at the dish as she went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI while Julianna Vasquez also had a multi-hit game with one RBI. Cheyenne Navarro drew three walks and scored three times while Ashley Salas and Alyssa Tavera each hit a double.

Gabriela Ortega picked up the win in the circle as she went four innings and gave up three runs on four hits. Kat Gutierrez mopped up the rest of the game, pitching the final three frames while giving up jut one unearned run on two hits to pick up her first save of the season.

The Warriors opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI single to center by Vasquez, scoring Emily Esparza for a 1-0 lead.

The Dons would tie things up in the top of the third but then Salas smacked a double to left to score Navarro to give ECC a lead they would never relinquish again.

Salas would score later in the inning on a wild pitch to make it 3-1 and, while the Dons mounted some rallies, the Warriors were never seriously threatened again.

The team will continue its current four-game homestand on Thursday when the Warriors host Orange Coast for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
