Softball Sweeps Double Dip at Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. --- El Camino College recorded its third and fourth straight victories on Friday in a doubleheader against Fullerton and L.A. Mission on Friday at Fullerton College.

WARRIORS 3, FULLERTON 0

In the first game of the day, the Warriors got a complete-game shutout from Madilyn Radeke in the circle. She scattered six hits and had one strikeout to pick up her second victory of the season.

On offense, Emily Esparza recorded a solo home run and Cheyenne Navarro added an RBI single to supply the scoring after the Warriors took a 1-0 lead on an error by the Hornets in the sixth.

Lilly Lewis and Julianna Vasquez also recorded hits in the victory.

WARRIORS 6, L.A. MISSION 4

In the final game of the day for ECC, the Warriors got multi-hit games from Emma Garcia, Navarro and Esparza with Navarro adding three RBI to power the team's second win over the Eagles this season.

Garcia put the Warriors on the board in the third inning with an RBI single to left center to plate Anahi Pintado for a 1-0 lead. Navarro then followed with an RBI single later in the frame to bring in Garcia, giving ECC a 2-0 edge.

But the Eagles answered in the fourth with three runs to take the lead.

The fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Warriors scored four runs on four hits to take the lead for good.

Navarro got the rally started with a one-out triple with two runners on to tie things up at 4-4. Malia Martin then followed with an RBI single to center to score Navarro and Esparza capped off the inning with a single to right field to bring in Martin from second base.

Kat Gutierrez picked up the win in the circle, pitching two innings of relief. She allowed one run on three hits and struck out one.

Gabriela Ortega secured the victory as she went 1.1 innings and allowed just one hit to pick up her first save of the year.

The Warriors will return home this week for three games beginning with a meeting against Santa Ana on Tuesday with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m.
