Softball Blanks Long Beach to Wrap Up Regular Season

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College wrapped up the 2023 regular season with a 5-0 South Coast Conference victory over Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.
The Warriors (24-16, 13-11) struck early with five runs in the first two innings and sophomore Skylar Sanchez pitched a complete-game shutout to secure the victory over the Vikings (25-13, 17-7)
The Warriors will now await to see who they will face in the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs, which get underway next week.
On Wednesday, the Warriors had four hits from the top four batters in the order with Kayla Inzunza, Leesa Parral and Malia Martin driving in four of the team's five runs.
Inzunza finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and Martin was 1-for-3 with an RBI triple. Parral scored twice and also had a hit.
Sanchez was stellar in the circle as she scattered four hits and struck out two while issuing one walk to pick up the victory. She only allowed a base runner to reach second base in three innings and no player ever reached third.
