TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College got a solid outing in the circle and took advantage of some mistakes in the field Tuesday afternoon en route to a 7-2 South Coast Conference victory over Cerritos at the ECC Softball Field.

Sophomore Elizabeth Cortez went the distance in the circle for the Warriors (9-6, 5-3) as she allowed two runs on eight hits and three walks. She struck out three and earned her seventh victory of the season in the circle.

Meanwhile, the defense struggled on both sides as the teams combined to make nine errors. The Warriors turned those errors into three unearned runs to gain some breathing room and walk out with the victory. Of the Warriors' seven runs, only three came via an RBI.

Marissa Garza led the offense as she went 3-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored. Ria Cardreon also had a multi-hit game offensively with Amber Patterson, Clarissa Chiquete and Macie Jensen all recording a hit on the day.

The Warriors will return to action on Thursday with another home game, this time against Chaffey. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
