Warriors Keep Winning Streak Going with Shutout over Grossmont

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College stormed out to a big lead early against visiting Grossmont and never looked back in an 11-0 non-conference victory Monday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (32-6) extended their season-long winning streak to 16 games after getting a solid outing from the pitching staff and five extra-base hits from the offense.

Laura Chafe secured the victory in the circle with one of her best outings of the year. She went three scoreless innings and scattered four hits while striking out six. Jasmine Apodaca and Emily Piera each pitched an inning to close out the run-rule win.

Five of the Warriors seven hits went for extra bases as Apodaca and Fiona Mutu each recorded doubles while Jocelyn Hernandez, Brooklyn Araujo and Belle Estrada each hit a triple Kate Cunningham, Sidra Montoya and Mina Nakawake all recorded stolen bases.

The Warriors will return to conference play Tuesday as they play their final home game of the regular season against Long Beach. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
