El Camino College used a big fifth inning to pull away and defeat Orange Coast 8-2, Friday morning at Orange Coast College.
The Warriors nursed a one-run lead for four innings but erupted for six runs in the fifth to blow the game open.
In the fifth, the Warriors erupted for seven hits including RBI hits from Marissa Garza, Mina Nakawake, Brooklyn Araujo and Belle Estrada.
Garza would lead the ECC offense on the day as she went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Nakawake and Estrada each tallied two hits along with Diamond Lewis and Araujo finished with two RBI.
In the circle, Jocelyn Hernandez picked up her 12th victory as she allowed just two hits in four innings of work. Emily Piera and Laura Chafe closed out the last three innings, combining to allow one earned run on four hits.
The Warriors will wrap up a busy week on Saturday at Cypress as they take on the Chargers and College of the Canyons in the third triangular of the season between the teams.
