Warriors Blank Orange Coast

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College capitalized on walks and stolen bases Friday afternoon en route to a dominant 7-0 win over Orange Coast College at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (7-5) had more walks than hits on the day as they drew eight free passes from three Pirates (7-5) pitchers. Ashley Machado and Annie Adamos each drew a pair of walks to lead the team while Kassidy Robinson led the offense with a 2-for-3 day and two RBI.

Along with the walks, the Warriors again terrorized their opponent on the base paths, swiping nine stolen bases. Diamond Lewis went 2-for-4 at the dish with two runs scored and led the team with three stolen bases. Machado swiped two bags while Adamos, Ronni Silas, Robinson and Karla Calderon all recorded stolen bases.

The Warriors took a quick lead with a run in the first inning but stranded the bases loaded, squandering an early chance to blow the game open. They'd get another shot in the second and capitalized, pushing across five runs on three hits to take a 6-0 lead and they never looked back.

Clarissa Chiquete picked up the win in the circle as she tossed a complete-game shutout. She allowed just two hits, one walk and struck out three for her fifth victory of the season.

The Warriors will open up South Coast Conference, South Division action on Tuesday afternoon as they hit the road to take on Compton. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
