TORRANCE, Calif. --- Scott Fujiwara scored four times as El Camino College surged past Chaffey, 15-6, in a South Coast Conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.
Fujiwara led all scorers with four goals while Heitor Trefilio dished out a team-high four assists for the Warriors. Max Hale and Robbie Josic scored three goals apiece as Vios Lopez earned the win in the cage with four saves in two periods of work.
Vincent Garibay led the Panthers with three goals and Sean Christian made four saves in a losing effort.
Scoring was at a premium in the opening quarter as the scoreboard remained blank through 3:26 of play. But Fujiwara got things started on the man-advantage, firing a power-play goal past Christian off a great pass from Cooper Josic for a 1-0 lead.
He would add two more at the 1:17 mark and then stole the ball and scored on a breakaway with 54 seconds left to make it 3-0 ECC.
The Warriors would take a 5-0 lead before the Panthers finally scored with 2:58 left in the second quarter.
But the Warriors offense had awoken and took a 9-2 lead at halftime and never looked back.
Defensively, the Warriors allowed just six goals on the day, the second fewest they have allowed this season. They defeated Fullerton 17-3 on Sept. 4 in the first match of the regular season.
The Warriors will wrap up the week on the road at the Southwestern Tournament on Friday. They will open the day against San Diego Miramar at 11:20 a.m. followed by Palomar (2 p.m.) and Grossmont (4:40 p.m.)
