SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- El Camino Colege took three of four matches this past weekend at the San Diego Miramar Tournament.
WARRIORS 16, SAN DIEGO MIRAMAR 9
The Warriors opened the tournament on Friday with a dominat win over the host Jets. The Warriors jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Robbie Josic led the team with four goals and Marc Bugarin added three as eight different players tallied a goal.
Sam Adams recorded the win as he made six saves in two quarters of action with Vios Lopez making two stops in his two quarters of play.
WARRIORS 23, VENTURA 16
The Warriors used a 7-2 scoring edge in the third quarter to turn the tide in what was a close match in the first half.
The Warriors led 13-10 at halftime but a barrage of goals from Max Hale in the third helped balloon the Warriors lead to eight goals going into the final period and they held on to win.
Hale scored six of his team-high seven goals in the third quarter while Scott Fujiwara and Heitor Trefilio added four goals apiece.
GROSSMONT 18, WARRIORS 13
A low-scoring second quarter for the Warriors proved pivotal as the team suffered its first loss of the season against the Griffins.
The Warriors were outscored 5-2 in the second period and trailed 12-7 at halftime and could not overcome the deficit, playing the Griffins to an even 6-6 scoring tally in the second half.
Hale scored six more times to lead the Warriors in a losing effort. Trefilio tallied three and Fujiwara added two.
WARRIORS 34, SAN DIEGO MESA 16
The Warriors trailed 9-8 after the first period and then the offense exploded to outscore the Olympians 25-8 in the final three periods including an 11-1 edge in the second quarter.
Eight different Warriors scored multiple goals with Josic leading the charge with six goals. Cooper Josic and Trefilio added five apiece with Hale scoring four with five assists. Fujiwara, Bugarin and Zane Johnson all added three.
Lopez took home the victory after making four saves in his two quarters of action.
The Warriors have now won eight of nine matches to open the season and will face their toughest test of the season so far at the Mount San Antonio Tournament this weekend. They will open against Palomar (9:30 a.m.) and Cypress (3:30 p.m.) on Friday followed by Orange Coast (9:15 a.m.) and L.A. Valley (3:45 p.m.) on Saturday.
