TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College opened the 2024 regular season with a dominant 17-3 non-conference victory over visiting Fullerton on Wednesday at the ECC Aquatics Center.
Freshman Robbie Josic had an outstanding debut, scoring five times including four goals in the first quarter to lead the Warriors offense. Cooper Josic, Heitor Trefilio, Jaziel Lopez and Max Hale all tallied two goals on the day while Sam Adams recorded the win in the cage with two saves in two quarters of action.
Josic opened the scoring with a power-play goal 19 seconds into the match on the team's opening possession. The Hornets would answer with a goal from Dayvid Quintana to tie things up with 7:06 left in the opening period.
But the Warriors offense took over from there as the team would go on to score 12 times in the frame to put the match away early.
Every player on the Warriors roster logged playing time in the opener with nine players scoring a goal and all three goalies recording at least one save.
The Warriors will return to action this weekend at the Cypress College Tournament beginning Friday with matches against Rio Hondo (8 a.m.) and Southwestern (12:40 p.m.). They will conclude the tournament Saturday against Cal Tech (12:50 p.m.) and Citrus (5:30 p.m.) They will return home on Sept. 25 when they open South Coast Conference action against Rio Hondo.
