Warriors Finish Fourth at SCC Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- El Camino College won its opening match at the South Coast Conference championships but dropped its final two contests to finish fourth in conference this past weekend at Long Beach City College.

WARRIORS 11, CHAFFEY 7

In the first match of the weekend, the Warriors used a 5-0 second quarter to pull away and secure yet another victory over Chaffey to advance to the semifinals. Marc Bugarin led the way with four goals and Heitor Trefilio added three in the victory while Sam Adams made 10 saves in the cage.

CERRITOS 19, WARRIORS 10

In the semifinals. The Falcons proved to be too much for the Warriors as Cerritos outscored ECC 15-5 in the second and third quarters combined.

Trefilio added three more goals to his ledger in the match while Jonas Nygren set a new career-high with four goals to lead the team.

LONG BEACH 15, WARRIORS 5

In the third-place match, the Warriors got two goals from Blake Klade and a goal apiece from Tyler Reed, Scott Fujiwara and Bugarin but it was not enough.

The Warriors conclude the season with an 11-18 overall record with a 2-5 mark in conference play. It is the second straight season the team has finished fourth in the conference under head coach Noah Rubke.
