Warriors Finish Cypress Tournament With a Perfect Record

CYPRESS, Calif. - The El Camino College men's water polo team finished out the Cypress Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record to start the season.

El Camino College 13, Santa Monica 10

It was a close game for most of the match until the 4th quarter when the Warriors were able to pull away with 4 unanswered goals in the final three minutes of play.  Santa Monica was leading with 5:39 left to play before Caio Vieira tied the game at 10-10.  Garel scored three of his goals in the final two minutes to secure the 13-10 win over Santa Monica.

Bronson Garel and Caio Vieira scored 4 goals a piece in the win over Santa Monica.  Matheus Trefilio, Lincoln Brydon, Blake Klade, Aidan Gutierrez, and Zackary Johnson all chipped in with one goal apiece.  Garel also added three assists for the game.  

Gary Bellingham made 12 saves for the game and also had 5 steals.

El Camino College 11, Chaffey College 6

The Warriors finished out the Cypress Tournament with an 11-6 win over Chaffey.  After leading 5-4 after two quarters, the Warriors scored 4 goals in the third to win the match 11-6.

The Warriors had four players with multiple goals in the game.  Blake Klade led the team with 3 goals, Tyler Reed (2 goals), Bronson Garel (2 goals), and Zackary Johnson (2 goals).  

Caio Vieira and Matheus Trefilio also scored a goal for the Warriors.  Aidan Gutierrez added three steals on defense and Gary Bellingham made 13 saves for the match.

The Warriors now head home for a home match for their first game inside the El Camino Aquatics Facility against Fullerton College on Wednesday, September 7th at 3:00 p.m.
