Men’s Water Polo Wraps Weekend with Another Split

El Camino College finished off its weekend Saturday with a split of both its matches in the final day of the Mount San Antonio College Tournament. For the weekend, the Warriors finished 2-2.

ECC 15, Rio Hondo 6

Avenging their opening day loss on the road, the Warriors finished strong to overcome a one-goal deficit after one period. The ECC defense held firm in the final three quarters as they held the Roadrunners to just two goals including blanking them in the fourth.

Sam Waters led the way for ECC with four goals and one assist in the victory while Matthew Thorne added three goals. Seth Ulrich, Logan Doersam and Ikaika Napohaku all scored twice and Brandon Soto made six saves to pick up the victory.

Fullerton 11, ECC 10

The Warriors and Hornets were tied 9-9 heading to the final period but ECC came up just short, getting outscored 2-1 in the final frame to wrap up the weekend with a split.

Matthew Thorne led the team with three goals while Hector Ramirez and Kyle Thorne added two apiece. Soto made another six saves in the match.

The Warriors will return home for their next match as they host Mt. SAC in a South Coast Conference affair.
