SANTA MONICA, Calif. – El Camino College scored a pair of victories at the Ed "Tuna" Gorodetsky Mini Tournament hosted by Santa Monica College on Friday morning.
ECC 9, Santa Monica 7
Nate Griffith led the Warriors with five goals and scored the game-winning goal in the in the fourth quarter to lift ECC past the Corsairs. With the score tied 7-7 with less than two minutes left, Griffith found the back of the net with 1:22 left off an assist from Jason Gottschalk.
Ian Pallares added the insurance goal with 37 seconds left to seal the victory for the Warriors in the opening match of the tournament. Jonas Fahrney, Ryan Winkler and Kyle Thorne also scored for the Warriors while Nicholas Elias made nine saves in net for ECC.
ECC 13, San Diego Mesa 6
The Warriors outscored the Olympians 8-2 in the second half to pull away and finish off the two-game sweep at the tournament. Griffith, Fahrney and Matthew Thorne all notched three goals to lead the Warriors while Joaquin Vargas and Kyle Thorne added two apiece in the victory. Elias made 11 saves in the win.
The Warriors will return to the ECC Pool for their final home match of the season on Wednesday against Rio Hondo.
