Men’s Volleyball Downs Golden West in Four

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College scored a 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 30-32, 25-16) non-conference victory over Golden West on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (2-3) dominated the sets they won and almost secured a sweep but Golden West  (1-6) put up a good fight in the third, outlasting the Warriors in a grueling finish that forced a fourth game.

But in the other three sets, the Warriors thoroughly outhit the Rustlers and were led by Travis Hanneman and his 18 kills on 45 swings. Mark Antonov added 13 kills and Jake Stimpfig dished out 45 assists. The Warriors also posted nine team blocks with Jake Hultgren recording five blocks (one solo) to lead the defense.

For the Rustlers, Nicolas Maya led the way with 11 kills and Jaden Kodongan had 30 assists in the loss.

The Warriors will now have a long break before beginning Western State Conference action on March 1 when they host L.A. Pierce. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
