Warriors Down Santa Barbara at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. – Three players recorded double-digit kills for El Camino College in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23) non-conference victory over Santa Barbara Friday night at the ECC South Gym.

Justin Navarro led a Warriors (4-3) attack with 14 kills on 23 swings with just three errors for a .478 attacking percentage in the victory. Matthew Donatucci added 13 kills and Connor Payne posted his first double-double of the year with 11 kills and 10 digs for the Warriors.

Kyle Skinner led the Vaqueros (5-1) with 20 kills and eight digs while Haward Gomes added 18 kills and six digs.

The Warriors ended the Vaqueros undefeated stretch to start the season with a .321 attacking percentage as a team. Joseph Sico dished out 45 assists for the Warriors in the victory.

Play at the net also proved crucial for the Warriors as the team posted 19 blocks on the day with Cruz Padilla leading the way with five. Anthony Ellis-Carballo and Sico added four apiece while Payne had three stuffs on the night.

The Warriors will now hit the road for their next two matches beginning Wednesday night at Antelope Valley followed by a meeting with Moorpark on Friday night. The Warriors next home match will take place on March 16 as they open conference action against Santa Monica.
