Alexander Named SCC Athlete of the Year

Sophomore Justin Alexander was named South Coast Conference Athlete of the Year for his achievements in the running events this season.

Alexander's performance in the SCC 400 meter hurdle finals not only gave him the conference title but placed him 2nd in state (52.67). Alexander was also part of the Warrior team that finished 2nd in the men's 1600 meter relay final in a time of 3:19.66.

With a highlight performance in the esteemed Mt. SAC Relays, Alexander won the college/open invitational portion of the 400 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 51.42 which marks his personal best thus far.

He currently holds a time of 1:59.28 in the 800 meter and improved his previous year's marks in the 200 meter (21.91) and 400 meter (48.81) at the Vaquero Invitational.

Also receiving recognition for his hardwork is John Hall who earned SCC Assistant Coach of the Year. Placing in the National Junior College Athletic Association list for outstanding performance were Nicole Clark and Shukura Tyler. Clark received the honor with her No. 2 NJCAA javelin mark of 148-1 while Tyler's 13.98 mark in the 100 meter hurdles put her No. 3 in the NJCAA.

The Warriors will travel to Riverside for the Southern California Preliminaries May 5-6 before returning for the finals which are set for May 12-13.
