LONG BEACH, Calif. --- El Camino College captured its first ever South Coast Conference Tournament championship after blanking Mount San Antonio, 3-0, on Friday evening at Long Beach City College.

It was the Warriors' (19-1-0) first SCC Tournament title and first trip to the final in the four-year existence of the conference tournament. With the win, the Warriors ran through the conference with a perfect 11-0-0 record including tournament games. It also completes one of the greatest regular seasons in the history of the ECC men's soccer program as they won 19 of 20 matches with the only loss coming to then-top ranked Norco in the third match of the season. The Warriors will now ride a 17-match winning streak into the upcoming California Community College Men's Soccer Southern California Regional Playoffs, which begin on Nov. 18.

On Friday, the Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the first half and added one more goal in the second to complete the season sweep over Mt. SAC. It was the Warriors' 11th shutout of the season.

Shingo Nakano opened the scoring in the 31st minute off an assist from Marvin Gamez to put ECC up 1-0. Just two minutes later, the Warriors made it a multi-goal lead as Jovanny Mejia found the back of the net off an assist from Nicholas Baltazar.

Ty Kerns put the cherry on top of the victory in the 82nd minute, rifling a right-footed blast to the upper right corner off a feed from Steven Alvarenga, making it 3-0 and putting the match away for good.

With the three goals on Friday, the Warriors also became the highest scoring team in 3C2A recorded history (since 2012). Hartnell held the previous record with 89 goals during the 2021 season.

The Warriors will find out their seeding in the 2023 3C2A SoCal Regionals on Monday.
