Gamez Nabs Second National Player of the Week Nod

United Soccer Coaches' Players of the Week - November 8, 2023 Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- El Camino College freshman Marvin Gamez was named the United Soccer Coaches National Junior College Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.

The award was Gamez's second of this season after he earned the acclaim back on Sept. 20 in the USC's weekly release.

Last week, the Warriors played just once but it was a dominant effort led by Gamez's two-goal performance in an 8-1 victory at Pasadena to complete a perfect 9-0 season in South Coast Conference play.

It was Gamez's fourth multi-goal game of the season at the time. He has since added another multi-goal effort after Tuesday's 5-0 win over L.A. City in the SCC Tournament Semifinals where he scored two more times.

The Warriors clinched the SCC_South Division title, the Warriors' first conference crown since 2014 and seventh overall. They won four straight SCC titles from 1986-89 and then another in 1991.

The team will compete for the SCC Tournament title on Friday afternoon when they face Mount San Antonio at 4 p.m. at the LBCC Soccer Complex. It will be ECC's first appearance in the final in the four-year existence of the conference tournament.
