TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors men's soccer team defeated LA Harbor 6-3 on Friday at home on the ECC Soccer Field.
The Warriors (14-1, 6-0 SCC) have won 12 games in a row. This was the first game since their loss at Norco on September 5th that the Warriors allowed more than one goal to be scored.
The Warriors had four unique goal scorers on Friday with Aldahir Rua and Shingo Nakano picking up braces in the game.
The Warriors got off to a quick start after Marvin Gamez opened the scoring two minutes into the game. He chipped a ball over the keeper from the right of the 18 yard box for his 15th goal of the season.
Aldahir Rua scored his first goal of the game in the 10th minute. After a freekick outside the box, Rua stepped up and shot into the left side of the net without opposition from the Harbor defense. Rua added his second goal of the day nearly four minutes later. Bogart Roca sent a long ball down to Jovanny Mejia down the right flank. He crossed it back to Rua on a cutback pass through the box and Rua one timed it into the near post for the goal.
Just before the halftime whistle, the Warriors made it a 4-0 game. The Warriors stole the ball off a Seahawk throw-in on their territory. The ball eventually found itself to Shingo Nakano inside the box who sent it across the goal from the left side of the box and Emiliano Amaro was able to poke the ball into the net.
The Warriors made it 5-0 in the 58th minute on Shingo Nakano's first goal of the game. Nicholas Baltazar sent a long ball that Nakano was able to beat a defender and the keeper on for the score. Nakano scored his second of the day in the 68th minute. Alejandro Martinez played a ball from near the halfline to Orlando Valencia-Jimenez. He sent a pass up the box to Nakano who was able to control the ball and beat the Harbor keeper.
The Seahawks added three goals in the second half. They got two penalty kicks in the 58th and 70th minute. Mark Zarate was able to beat Donovan Palomares both times. On their third goal, Adrian Garcia outmuscled/outran the Warrior defense on a long ball and was able to beat Palomares for the goal.
The Warriors will play their final conference home game of the regular season next Tuesday against LA City College. Kick-off is set for 2:00 pm.
NOTES: At halftime, the Warriors honored the 1982 El Camino College State Champs team.
