Men’s Soccer Wins Ninth Game in a Row

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College men's warrior team won their 9th game in a row on Tuesday as they defeated Rio Hondo College 4-1.

The Warriors (11-1, 3-0 SCC) had four unique goal scorers on Tuesday's game as Aldahir Rua, Bogart Roca, Shingo Nakano, Jovanny Mejia all got on the scoresheet.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead into halftime after scoring late in the first half.  Jovanny Mejia sent in a cross from the right side of the box to Aldahir Rua who volleyed the ball into the goalie's near post.

Rio Hondo equalized in the 52nd minute after a penalty was called against the Warriors. 

The Warriors regained the lead in the 72nd minute.  Bogart Roca blasted a ball from the right of the box that deflected off a Rio Hondo defender into the net.  

The Warriors made it a 3-1 game a few minutes later when Shingo Nakano scored.  Ivan Torres sent a ball into the top of the box that bounced over the Roadrunner defender and Nakano was able to control and dribble around the keeper and slot it into the open goal. 

Jovanny Mejia put the finishing touches on the game in the 89th minute.  He curled in a beautiful shot from the top of the box into the left upper 90 of the Roadrunners goal. 

Donovan Palomares made three saves in goal and picked up his 11th win of the season.

The Warriors will look to keep the momentum going when they head to East Los Angeles on Friday.  Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
