Warriors Top Bakersfield At Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino Warriors men's soccer team defeated the Bakersfield College Renegades 4-0 at home on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors (8-1) wrapped up their non-conference slate of games on Tuesday.  The Warriors have scored 46 goals and allowed just five goals and are averaging 5.11 goals per game.  

The Warriors had four different goal scorers in Tuesday's game with Diego Martinez, Alex Salas, Marvin Gamez, and Emiliano Amaro having their name on the scoresheet.

The Warriors opened the scoring in the 22nd minute.  Diego Martinez scored his first goal of the season after heading the ball in on a corner kick by Marvin Gamez.

They doubled their advantage three minutes later when Diego Garcia weaved his way into the box down the left side and his cross was met by Alex Salas.

Marvin Gamez picked up his state leading 12th goal of the game in the 59th minute.  Charlie Cazares's free kick met Gamez's perfect header to put the Warriors up 3-0.

Emiliano Amaro scored the 4th and final goal in the final seconds of the match after receiving the ball on top of the box off a Bakersfield turnover and he blasted the ball into the corner.

Donovan Palomares had five saves and picked up his sixth clean sheet of the season.

The Warriors begin South Coast Conference play next week with two of their toughest matchups on the road.  They will take on Mt. Sac on Tuesday at 4:30 PM and Cerritos on Friday at 2:00 PM.
