SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors men's soccer lost their first game of the season in a 3-2 loss at Santa Monica on Friday afternoon.
Both sides went into halftime with the score tied at 1-1 after Alexander Lalor scored the first goal for SMC and Jovanny Mejia scored for the Warriors.
However, the Corsairs added two goals in the first five minutes in the second half to take a 3-1 lead. Andy Cabrera would pull one goal back in the 72nd minute but it wasn't enough to get a result against the Corsairs.
The Warriors outshot the Corsairs 14-to-11 and had 9 shots on goal to the Corsairs 5 shots on goal. However, David Rodriguez made seven saves for Santa Monica. Donovan Palomares made two saves for the game.
The Warriors return home on Tuesday, September 6th for a game against Norco. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Warrior Soccer Field.
