Ristovski’s Game-Winner Lifts Warriors to Seventh Straight Win

Ristovski’s Game-Winner Lifts Warriors to Seventh Straight Win

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Eli Ristovski's first goal of the season came at a perfect time for El Camino College in a 2-1 victory over Chaffey Friday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors (7-0-0) stayed undefeated on the season thanks to Ristovski's first of the season in the 62nd minute. After a shot from Andy Cabrera was stuffed by Panthers (4-3-2) keeper Jose Estrada, the rebound found its way to Ristovski's right foot and he threaded the shot between Estrada's legs to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

Luis Garibay had one of his best outings of the year, making five saves to secure the victory for ECC. Cabrera finished the day with two assists.

The scoring opened in the 38th minute as Cabrera put a touch on the ball and looked poised to shoot with no defenders near him. But teammate Carson Nguyen got to the ball first and grooved it inside the right post and past Estrada for a 1-0 Warriors lead.

After halftime, the Panthers responded as Wilson Marv and Auner Castillo Gonzalez executed a flawless give-and-go and then Marv tapped it over Garibay and into the back of the net to tie things up at 1-1.

Overall, the Warriors outshot the Panthers 15-11 but the Panthers actually put more shots on target with a 6-5 edge.

The victory did come at a cost for both teams as four yellow cards and three red cards were handed out, five of them coming in stoppage time and after the game was over due to an altercation between the teams.

The Warriors will be without Garibay after he was ejected. Estrada was booked twice for the Panthers as the game wound down; once in stoppage time and then a red after the match was over. A redshirt player on Chaffey's bench was also given a red card.

The Warriors will host Bakersfield in a non-conference contest on Tuesday at the ECC Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
