Diaz Named to National Junior College Scholar All-American Team

United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American Team

TORRANCE, Calif. - It was announced on Thursday that sophomore midfielder Oliver Diaz was named to the United Soccer Coaches National Junior College Scholar All-American Second Team. This is the first team in school history that an El Camino College men's soccer player has been given this honor.  

To be eligible for Scholar All-America recognition, student-athletes must meet the following criteria: 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career and started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team

Diaz accumulated a 3.64 GPA while majoring in Business Administration.

Diaz was previously named to the All-SCC First Team for the second straight season.  Diaz was second on the team with 18 points. He scored seven goals and had four assists for the season. He had three game-winning goals against Irvine Valley, Moorpark, and Orange Coast College.  Diaz was one of the three players to play in all 22 games for the Warriors for the season.

Diaz will be formally recognized at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Baltimore on January 18th, 2020 at the All-American Ceremony and Reception.
