United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week Release

TORRANCE, Calif. - It was announced on Tuesday that El Camino College freshman midfielder, Melvyn Perez-Cortez was named the National Player of the Week for Junior Colleges by the United Soccer Coaches.

Melvyn Perez-Cortez scored a brace against Compton College on Friday, November 1st.  He scored the first and third goals of the game. Perez-Cortez also had an assist on Tuesday, October 29th against Pasadena City.

The freshman is tied for first in the team with 14 points.  Perez-Cortez has two assists, six goals (two game winners). 

The Warriors are 10-1-4 overall for the season and 3-1-3 in conference play.

The Warriors host Mt. Sac on Tuesday evening for the final game of the regular season.  They will begin the first round of the South Coast Conference playoffs on Friday, November 8th.
