Warriors Lose Close One Against Rio Hondo At Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - In a game that featured more fouls then shots, El Camino College lost 1-0 to Rio Hondo at home on Tuesday evening.

The Warriors (5-4-4) were undone by a counter attack from Rio Hondo (9-1-5) near the 60th minute.  The Warriors thought they had a foul near the 40-yard line on the far side of the pitch but the Roadrunner player continued to dribble down the line and was able to cut back inside the box and find an open Andres Salazar who was able to put a shot just pass Brandon Cardenas into the lower left corner of the net.

The game was an even affair with neither side having a particularly good look on goal in the first half.  Both teams finished with 9 shots a piece. Each team was called for 18 fouls and there were 6 yellow cards issued (3 to each team).

El Camino had an early look in the 24th minute but Kevin Negrete shot high on a freekick.  Eduardo Grados had a good shot saved in the 69th minute. Brian Morales also had a good look on goal in the 84th minute inside the box but his shot save was saved.

Brandon Cardenas started in net for the Warriors.  In additional time towards the end of the second half, Eduardo Casillas made a goal line clearance after a Rio Hondo player got pass the goalie on a breakaway opportunity.

The Warriors will look to shake off Tuesday's result as they head to Mt. Sac for another South Coast Conference crossover game.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM
