Negrete’s Hat Trick Gives Warriors Tie at Orange Coast College

COSTA MESA, Calif. - After being down 4-0 with 15 minutes left in the game, El Camino stormed back to draw 4-4 with Orange Coast College on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors (4-3-4) were on the brink of a consecutive defeat after conceding their fourth goal of the game midway through the second half against the Pirates (5-5-3) before the Warriors turned the game around in their favor.

Kevin Negrete led the amazing comeback for the Warriors by playing a part in all four goals the Warriors scored.  His first goal was scored on a freekick around the 76th minute. His pass found a streaking Jean-Pierre Dejean Macksa in the 81st minute to make it a 4-2 ballgame.  In the 86th minute, Matthew Villongco was able to connect on a long pass to Negrete and he was able to bury the shot to make it a 4-3 game. Then three minutes later, Oliver Diaz was able to find the red hot Negrete who's third goal of the day finally put the Warriors level with the Pirates.

OCC took a 3-0 lead into halftime and went up 4-0 in the 68th minute before the Warriors began their comeback.

El Camino outshot Orange Coast 16 to 11 for the game and in the second half, El Camino dominated the run of play and outshot the Pirates 10 to 3.

Andrew Argueta started in net for the Warriors and was credited with making three saves.  Brandon Cardenas took over in the second half and made one save.

The Warriors next game will be on Friday, October 12th at East Los Angeles.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
