Serrano’s Strong Day as Warriors Draw with Compton College

Serrano’s Strong Day as Warriors Draw with Compton College

TORRANCE, Calif. - Misa Serrano was the engine behind the offense with a goal and an assist as the Warriors drew with Compton College for their final home game of the season.

El Camino College (6-9-6, 0-5-2) had a stellar first half before Compton College (12-5-3, 4-2-2) equalized in the second half.

Misa Serrano opened the scoring early for the Warriors after scoring his third goal of the season on a defensive turnover inside the box.

Compton College would equalize in the 17th minute when Cesar Torres scored on a header off a corner kick.  The headed ball ricocheted hard off an ECC defender into the net.

The Warriors would regain the lead in the 30th minute off a goal by Gregory Natt.  Serrano had a throw-in land near the goalkeeper in the six yard box that the Compton goalkeeper misplayed, and Natt shot the ball into the open net.

ECC had a great chance to bury the game at 3-1 in the 70th minute.  Serrano had the goalkeeper 1-v-1 after a great through ball, but his shot would go wide right past the net.

Compton College equalized in the 73rd minute of play off Torres' second goal of the day.  Ivan Vasquez shot a hard blast inside the box that Hector Gutierrez could only deflect upwards.  The ball would land in front of the goalline where Torres pounced on the ball with an open net.

The Tartars outshot the Warriors 14-7 for the game with eight shots on goals, compared to the Warriors three shots on goal.  Gutierrez was credited with six saves for the game.

The Warriors were aggressive on defense the entire game.   They led the foul count with 24 fouls compared to Compton's nine fouls.

The Warriors will return to action for their final game of the season on Friday, November 10th at 11:00 AM.  They will face-off against SCC South member LA Harbor.  When they met on Tuesday, October 10th, the Seahawks defeated the Warriors 4-1 in an away game for them.  The Warriors will be looking to return the favor on their Seahawk's home turf.
