Warriors Fall to L.A. Harbor

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College jumped out to a quick lead against L.A. Harbor on Tuesday afternoon but the visiting Seahawks scored four unanswered goals to top the Warriors, 4-1, in a South Coast Conference, South Division tilt at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors (5-6-2, 0-3-1) took the lead in the third minute thanks to Jose Hernandez, who notched his first goal of the season off an assist from Everardo Cadenias. It turned out to be the only goal for the Warriors on the day, which would not be enough to overcome the Seahawks' (2-7-3, 1-3-0) onslaught.

The barrage began in the 40th minute as Jose Cuevas beat Warriors goalkeeper Hector Gutierrez with a header to the far post off a throw-in from Donacino Mesina, tying the match as the teams went in to the locker rooms for halftime.

In the second half, the Seahawks struck swiftly with goals less than two minutes apart. In the 49th, Francisco Ortega blasted a shot to the upper-90 past Gutierrez to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. In the 50th minute, Cuevas struck again for his second goal of the match, punching in a cross from Ortega to make it 3-1. They would add another goal in the 86th minute to cap off the scoring.

The Warriors and Seahawks each fired 21 shots on the day with ECC putting six on target. Gutierrez made six saves for the Warriors in the loss as 10 of L.A. Harbor's shots found the mark.

The Warriors will look to avoid a three-match losing streak on Friday afternoon as they hit the road to face Pasadena at 2 p.m.
