Warriors Upended At Home Against Golden West To Finalize Pre-Conference Play

TORRANCE - Calif.  El Camino College was outplayed by a first-rate Golden West College side 5-2 on Friday afternoon at Murdock Stadium.

After a strong three-game winning streak for ECC, the Warriors were defeated by the Rustlers of Golden West, who dominated the Warriors in shots, with a 16-7 advantage.

The Rustlers jumped to a quick 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute of play, after a spectacular shot by Rafael Martin from 30 yards out that found its way into the upper-90 of Cesar Amezcua's goal.    They would score another goal in the 14th minute when Ronaldo Escudero rifled a shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

The Warriors had a great start to the 2nd half as they pegged one goal back to make it 2-1 in the 50th minute.  After a Gregory Natt run down the endline which saw a shot blocked, Abraham Younis was able to slot one in the net after the ball spilled in front of him.

However, Golden West would immediately respond four minutes later when Escudero picked up his second goal of the afternoon off a blast from the top of the box to make it 3-1 for the Rustlers.

There were penalty kicks for both sides in the 72nd and 78th minute respectively.   The goalkeeper for Golden West made it 4-1 for the Rustlers.  Rene Escobar picked up his first goal of his career off his penalty kick to make the game 4-2.

The Rustlers would add one more goal in the 90th minute to bury the game at 5-2.

El Camino returns to action next Tuesday at Long Beach at 4:00 PM as they begin conference play.
