Warriors Open Season at Cuyamaca Classic

JAMUL, Calif. --- El Camino College opened the 2025 season at the Cuyamaca Classic held at Steele Canyon Golf Club and hosted by 2024 3C2A state champions, Cuyamaca.

The Warriors joined the rest of their Orange Empire Conference counterparts in the nine-team field and played the Canyon and Ranch courses at Steele Canyon Golf Club.

Sophomore Kevin Hikichi paced the Warriors on a rainy day at the course as he shot a 13-over 84, which tied him for 35th place in the 64-player field.

Orange Coast tied for first place with hosts Cuyamaca but OCC took home the win thanks to a better score from their No. 5 golfer.

Meanwhile, Mason Montgomery of College of the Desert took home medalist honors as he was the only player to break par on the day, shooting a 2-under 69.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Eagle Classic hosted by Mount San Jacinto at Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto, Calif.
