Men’s Golf Wraps Up Season at OEC Finals

TEMECULA, Calif. --- El Camino College wrapped up the regular season at the Orange Empire Conference Finals held at Temecula Creek Golf Club.

The Warriors began the 36-hole finale with a solid score but they ran out of gas in the second round and finished eighth out of the 10 teams competing.

In the first 18 holes, every Warriors golfer that recorded a qualifying score shot in the 70s, led by sophomore Bradley Yamamoto's 3-over 75. Daniel Crossan, Kevin Hikichi and Ryan Mahram all shot 77 while Chan Woo Suk carded a 78 to put the Warriors in fifth place after the first round.

But the Warriors could not muster a score better than 81 from any golfer in the final 18 holes and the team fell to eighth with a 76-over 796, six shots back of their initial rank of fifth place held by Cypress in Riverside at the end of the day.

Cuyamaca claimed the conference title thanks to a blistering round of 371 in the final 18 holes, 11 shots better than the next best team in the final round. It helped offset a first round score of 383 and the Coyotes finished at 34-over with a 754, five shots better than runner-up Orange Coast. College of the Desert, the first-round leader after a 376, finished third with a 42-over 762.

On the individual side, Ronny Zheng of Riverside finished atop the field with a 4-under 140. Nicholas Chavarin of Cuyamaca placed second with a 3-under 141 and You Torii of COD placed third with a 2-over 146.
