Men’s Golf Opens Season with Solid Outing at Cuyamaca Classic

JAMUL, Calif. --- El Camino College opened the 2024 season with a fifth-place finish at the Cuyamaca Classic hosted by Cuyamaca at the Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul, Calif.

The Warriors posted a score of 411 on the par-71 course, good for a 56-over cumulative score. They were two strokes back of third-place Cypress (+54) and one stroke behind Saddleback (+55).

The host Coyotes won the event with a 397 (+42) with College of the Desert finishing in second place with a score of 403 (+48).

On the individual side, sophomore Wyatt Seal earned a top-10 finish with a 8-over 79, good for a three-way tie for ninth place. He would finish nine strokes back of medalist Jack Shipton of Saddleback, who shot a a 1-over 72 to finish atop the 67-player field.

Kevin Hikichi logged a top-20 finish with his 10-over 81, which was good for a seven-way tie for 16th place. Bradley Yamamoto was one stroke behind his teammate with a 11-over 82, good for a top-25 finish in a tie for 23rd place. Chan Woo Suk tied for 26th with a 13-over 84 and Daniel Crossan rounded out the Warriors' scoring with a 14-over 85.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday at the Eagle Classic hosted by Mount San Jacinto at Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto, Calif. Players are scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m.
