TORRANCE, Calif. -- El Camino College dropped its second straight home game and eighth in its last 10 contests with a 75-58 South Coast Conference, South Division loss to Cerritos on Friday evening at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors made just two shots from beyond the arc and shot 37 percent as a team. Billy Ray Barnes III was excellent offensively as he flirted with a double-double, scoring a game-high 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting with nine rebounds in 36 minutes of action.
But no other Warriors player recorded double digits as the team committed 16 turnovers that led to 23 Falcons points. The Falcons also had an edge on the inside with a 42-2 advantage in points in the paint.
Despite the struggles, the Warriors were able to wittle down the Falcons first-half lead to just six points with 1:05 left in the opening period. But the Falcons put together a 15-2 scoring run that bridged the first and second half to take a 45-26 lead and they never looked back.
The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday on the road against L.A. Southwest. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
