Warriors Fall to Mount San Antonio

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 81-68 loss to visiting Mount San Antonio on Wednesday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors got a game-high 26 points from freshman Shamar Carter along with a team-high seven rebounds while Billy Ray Barnes III added 25 points in the loss.

For the Mounties, Nick Hopkins led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds with five assists and Jerimiyah Smith added 15 points in 19 minutes off the bench.

The Warriors trailed by 12 at halftime but mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit to two on multiple occasions. Carter hit a three to make it 61-59 Mounties with 7:12 left in regulation but the Mounties would not let the Warriors get any closer thanks to some key offensive rebounds and second-chance points.

They would close out the game on a 20-9 run to secure the win. For the game, the Mounties outrebounded the Warriors 39-26 with a 20-11 edge in offensive rebounds.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday with a road contest against L.A City with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
