Chambers Late Basket Seals Game vs Irvine Valley

TORRANCE, Calif. - With five seconds left in the game vs Irvine Valley College, Justin Chambers hit a running jumper to put the Warriors ahead by two points and sealed the 69-67 win for El Camino College.  

The sophomore duo of Justin Reyes (20 points, 5-12 3-point attemps) and Justin Chambers (14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) led El Camino College (2-4).  The Irvine Valley College Lasers (2-4) had five scorers reach double-digit points.

Irvine Valley College led 40-25 at the half.  After some foul trouble and missed opportunities, the Lasers had a 9-0 scoring run to finish out the first half.  

El Camino College came out of halftime as a completely different team from the first half.  They went on a 15-2 scoring run in the first 4:56 of the second half to pull within 2 points of the Lasers.  

The Lasers swung the momentum to their side for a bit as they opened up a 50-43 lead with 12:18 left in the game.  However, the Warriors wouldn't let the deficit grow any bigger and finally tied the game at 50-50 at the 10:35 mark in the second half.

The Warriors finally grabbed the lead for the first time with 9:53 left in the game after Justin Reyes hit a three-pointer to put the Warriors ahead 53-50.  The Warriors never led by more than 5 points when they went ahead 64-59 with 4:06 left in the game.

With both teams well into the double bonus, El Camino led 67-64 after a Justin Chambers free throw with 2:10 left in the game.  Irvine Valley was able to make one free throw with 1:20 left in the game to pull within one basket of the game.

El Camino had the ball with 37 seconds left in the game before a turnover by Chambers led to a fast break opportunity for the Lasers.  David Georgiev was able to punch in an offensive rebound into the basket off a missed layup for the Lasers and tie the game at 67 all with 18 seconds left.

Justin Chambers sank a running jump shot down the right side with 5 seconds left in the game.  Without any timeouts left, the Lasers went for a long imbounds pass to their front court and Isaiah Mahmud's three point basket clanked off the rim to seal the win for the Warriors at home.  

The Warriors will now head to Porterville, Calif. For the Porterville Tournament.  They will play West Hills Lemoore on November 30th at 5:00 PM and Porterville on December 1st at 3:00 PM.
