Poor First Half Proves Costly as Warriors Drop Title Game to Santiago Canyon

PASADENA, Calif. – El Camino College fell behind by double digits in the first half and could not overcome the gap in a 108-97 loss to Santiago Canyon in the championship game of the Skip Robinson Classic hosted by Pasadena City College.

The Warriors (2-4) dropped their second game of the season to Santiago Canyon (7-0) as the Hawks remained undefeated on the young season. The Warriors shot just 26.3 percent from beyond the arc in the first half and the Hawks flirted with a 60 percent clip, going 24-for-42 from the field in the first 20 minutes and led ECC 66-50 at the break.

For ECC, Troy Biglow led the way with 17 points in 17 minutes off the bench, one of five Warriors to notch double figures on the day. Ricky Bryan was just shy of a triple-double with 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Nijel Jones had 15 points and eight rebounds; Da'Koda Lacey added 14 and Isiah Armstead scored 10 for the Warriors.

Kamron Fleming led the Hawks with 30 points on 13-for-23 shooting while Antoine Jenkins added 22 points. Rodney Henderson posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday with a road contest against Rio Hondo.
