Men’s Basketball Falls at LA Harbor, 106-104

WILMINGTON, Calif. - Men's Basketball was edged out by LA Harbor on Wednesday night, 106-104. The loss puts the Warriors at 2-7 in conference (11-15).

Coach Robert Uphoff shared his thoughts on the night, "As a team we did a good job on the offensive glass, in particular Ope-Onilenla, Madrid, and Powns, grabbing a total of 30 offensive rebounds."

Che Madrid had a final opportunity to end the game in the Warriors' favor with his three point attempt but the ball circled the rim and bounced out right as the buzzer went off. Madrid and Jamal Heckard both led the Warriors in points (21). Madrid also had eight rebounds and three steals, while Heckard went 9-11 on the free throw line and four assists. Keywhon Powns was right behind them in points with 19 and seven rebounds. Ahmad Ope-Onilenla finished with eight points and 11 rebounds, nine of which were offensive.

"We just didn't have enough energy and focus during tonight's contest," shared Coach Uphoff. "Regardless, our 'mentality' coming into tonight's contest wasn't what it needed to be and as a result, we let another potential win slip away."

The team was unable to capitalize off shooting opportunities, "We had a lot of open looks but just couldn't put the ball through the net often enough."

The Warriors host Cerritos College for the final game of conference play on Friday night. The Hornets are on a four game winning streak while they're 10-1 in conference. Game is scheduled for 5pm.

"I hope we show up Friday night with a lot more energy, effort and focus. Hopefully we can close this season out on a high note by defending our home court and defeating a very good Cerritos College team," finished Coach.
