Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at Cerritos College 86-95

CERRITOS, Calif. – The Warriors (10-12) faced the Cerritos Falcons (16-2) away on Wednesday night. The Warriors played well but ultimately were not able to win due to too many mental errors.

Jamal Heckard scored 29 points against the Falcons. In the 14th minute of the game, Heckard had back-to-back 3 pointers and finished the game with six 3-point shots.  Throughout the 1st half, both teams showed consistency and kept the score within two to three points of each other. At half, the Warriors were down 38-41.

In the beginning of the 2nd half, the Warriors took the lead from Keywhon Powns' layup. The game was neck-in-neck until the 26th minutes when Heckard made a 3-point jump shot from outside. The Warriors then held the lead by over 10 points through the 34th minute when their offense slowly drifted.

In the last two minutes of the game, the Falcons scored 15 points and ultimately taking the lead and winning the game. Coach Robert Uphoff commented on the 2nd half, "we built a double-digit lead late in the 2nd half, but then we became very stagnant on the offensive end of the floor, took some awful shots, which then lead to easy transition baskets for Cerritos." The Warriors lost 86-95 against the Falcons.

Coach Robert Uphoff shared his thoughts, "the game was called a lot tighter in the 2nd half for whatever reason and we failed to adjust to the officials and our opponents personnel."

The Warriors face LA Southwest College away (12-11) Friday at 5:00 pm.
