Warriors Open Conference Play With Loss Against LA Southwest

TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors began conference play began Wednesday night when they faced off against Los Angeles Southwest College. The Warriors had a tough night, unable to convert their shot attempts to points, resulting in a 20 point loss (101-77). The loss puts the Warriors at 9-9 overall and 0-1 in conference.

El Camino struggled against LA Southwest, only making 35% of their field goal attempts, while the Cougars managed to score 43 of 76 attempts. The majority of the game was consistent with the Cougars relentless to give up their lead. The closest the Warriors got to the lead was when Brandon Guerrero's layup put the team 11 points away from the Cougars. Unfortunately for the home team, they were unable to get any closer the rest of the match.

With less than a minute left in the game, Gavin Reagan successfully made both his free throw attempts for the Warriors but the Cougars answered back with a steal and layup by Willie Barnes. Martyre Demarco's three point buzzer beater attempt was unsuccessful and ended the game in the Cougars' favor.

Keywhon Powns led the Warriors' offensive efforts, totaling 26 points during the match, making half of his field goal attempts. Brandon Harris accounted for 11 points while Munachiso Nwodili and Jamal Heckard both made 10 throughout the night.
