Unable to Take Second Half Advantage, the Warriors Get Swept By the Visiting Cougars

TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors had another tough night, falling to the College of the Canyons Wednesday night at home. Despite outscoring the visiting team in the second half, El Camino ultimately fell 77-90. The loss leaves the Warriors 8-8 on the season.

The Warriors had a rough first half, with the Cougars quickly taking the lead. Sophomore guard Martyre Demarco leveled the game at 6-6 with a jump shot but Cougar guard Jacob Lilley came back with a bucket of his own. From then on the Cougars led the game and gave the Warriors little chance to catch up.

With the help of freshman guard Jamal Heckard, sophomore forward Munachiso Nwodili worked to give the Warriors an advantage in the second half and outscored the Cougars 43-36. Nwodili logged 10 points and a steal in the second half of the match and earned a double double with an overall of 16 points and 12 rebounds throughout the game. While freshman point guard Tarron Wiley and freshman forward Che Madrid put in last minute efforts, each making threes right before the buzzer.

Freshman guard Jamal Heckard led the Warriors in points, accounting for almost half of the first half points (16) and ending the night with 25 points and three rebounds, assists and steals.
